Paratales

About the book

Paratales is a small collection of short stories that I wrote over a two year span. Taking elements from investigations both ours and other groups and changing it around a lot to bring them to life. Not often can a paranormal investigator tell stories like this, due to the fact of embellishing a true case. But for me I make sure my readers now that these stories are fiction and not in any way connected to my personal group. Many times when we get calls and we here the claims it sounds scary but often we find logical reasons for those claims.

In Paratales I turned it around and showed what possibly the client really experienced. It was so fun writing them and as I verbally told some of the stories I got great responses.

Ghost Hunted

So You Want To Be A Ghost Hunter

About the Book

Being a paranormal investigator for seven years I see so many misconceptions. Yes I watch all the shows, but I know what goes on that people don’t see. So You Want To Be A Ghost Hunter is a brief idea what a person should know when they want to investigate for themselves. I try to break down everything from groups, to equipment, to the pain staking reviewing of the data. I give correct terms that even the TV personalities use, and show that investigating isn’t all that it is cracked up to be.

I have seen many groups in my area come and go, and sometimes do more harm than good. This book will walk you through and help you get started. Other books may give a lot of technical terms and may confuse a person. This book lays it out on the line to help you get your foot in the door of the paranormal world.

Forward:

This book by Jason Hess, “So You Think You Want to Be A Ghost Hunter” is a MUST read for the novice interested in paranormal research and investigations. Jason effortlessly ties in a broad based knowledge of ghost hunting topics ranging from how to join an established paranormal team to the tools needed to perform an investigation to how data is analyzed and an educated conclusion drawn. The lay person reading this book will glide through the pages as if Jason is right there talking directly to them.

This book also gives the novice some great ghost hunting tips and words of wisdom from the perspective of an experienced investigator. Due to the many different paranormal television shows out now on TV, most people think that ghost hunting is as easy as getting a flashlight and a few recorders and finding a scary house to investigate. Having been in the cast of “Ghost Hunters” and “Ghost Hunters International” as an original member of the T.A.P.S (The Atlantic Paranormal Society) organization, I can tell you that it is NOT that easy. I’ve been on both sides of the camera as well as in the field for many years as an investigator & case manager. There is a significant amount of preparation needed, a vast array of theories to understand that go hand in hand with the equipment you will be using, and basic field etiquette to abide by. Jason is able to bring the knowledge of these concepts to the forefront so that the reader can easily understand all that this kind of venture entails.

Overall, a fantastic, easy-to-understand, no-nonsense book that speaks to the reader’s curiosity from the perspective of a seasoned ghost hunter. This information is invaluable; I wish this book was in print when I was first learning about the paranormal!

About the Book

Being a paranormal investigator I have been able to go look for things that go bump in the night. Then I started to think, what if the bump tried bumping you. And Ghost Hunted was made. I took people I knew to develop the characters in the book. A lot of people think I would fashion the main character Mike Taylor after myself, but I didn’t. See the first twist of the book, but one character in the book does have some of my quirks.

Mike Taylor is a founding member of a group called V.G.H. (Virginia Ghost Hunters) and he leads them into a house that the client claims a spirit killed her husband. With my personal knowledge of investigating I take that and use correct terms and names. I believe this helps bring the investigation more to life. While writing this book I decided to make a series of books featuring Mike Taylor. This will be an ongoing project until I run out of ideas. And trust me I don’t see that coming to soon.

Ghost Hunted:

WOW! is all I can say about this book.
Jason has a gift I don't see often in authors, he can make the words flow and keep your interest with ease. I hate to read, but Ghost Hunted was one of those stories that I could not lay down and if I had to stop, I could not wait to get back to it!

I loved this story and all of the couples that held it together. Mike & Samantha, Carried & Mark...all of the character's made this story amazing!

Ghost Hunted is so much different than any of the ghost hunting books I have read in the past.
It kept me waiting and wondering and just held my attention to the max!
I will read it again because it is one of those books that you get so engrossed in that you might read it so fast that you miss a few things, I will not mind at all reading it a second time.

Mike Taylor and his woman Samantha are your typical couple who have their ups and downs and might even lead you to believe that they might break up, but then Mike gets a call while Samantha is at work, from a woman with a raspy voice. She sounds to be an older woman who may smoke ten packs of cigarettes a day. The woman simply states that she wants to hire Mike's team to ghost hunt her mansion. She claims that a ghost killed her husband.

The story almost Instantaneously begins with a bang and that is MY kind of book!
